Why Firefighters Don’t Arrest People

Likewise, this video is the reason why cops shouldn’t try to put out fires. Do what you’re trained to do and leave stuff outside your realm of knowledge to those who know.

This video is of a cop trying to put out a car fire. Let’s just say he made a few mistakes that he’s probably smarting over right now.

Eight Brooklyn Firefighters Injured in Blaze

A three alarm blaze at 222 Kings Highway in the Bensonhurst area of Brooklyn was swarmed by over 150 firefighters. WCBS 2 reports that eight firefighters were hurt, one is injured and in critical condition from a wall collapse. From what I understand, he fell out the third story window and rode the debris from the collapse all the way down to the basement, where he was covered by the debris.

Firefighters Help Spread Holiday Cheer

You know what I love about this time of year? All the news of firefighters doing more than their fair share for their communities. Like the guys at my firehouse holding a Christmas party at the firehouse and having neighborhood kids come and spend time with Santa and getting a bag of toys. Yesterday, I overheard two women talking about the firefighters, police officers and first aid squads of Keyport, NJ who went around town with firetrucks filled to the brim with toys and delivering them to various homes.

Here are some more examples of firefighters being heroes, not just on the fire ground, but in life:

- Chico, CA, where firefighters participated in “Operation Sleigh Ride” for the Adopt-a-Family program delivering gifts and visiting families in need.

-Goldsboro, NC where firefighters held “Shop with a Firefighter” day where they took select needy families on a shopping trip to Walmart. The funds were raised by the firefighters and members of the local community.

- Bowling Green, KY firefighters took approximately 53 children with special healthcare needs to Target where they went on a shopping spree.

I think stories like this just exemplify why firefighters are the most noble of professions. You don’t often hear of ambulance chasers and politicians doing this do you?

Crossville Firefighter Shoots Self at Station

A Crossville, Tennessee firefighter accidentally shot himself while cleaning his handgun at his fire station.

According to investigators, firefighter Brian Wyatt was cleaning his handgun at his fire station before he decided to show it to two other men. While he was displaying his hand cannon, it accidentally discharged and shot him in the hand

Firemen in a Bucket Caught in Backdraft

Here’s some incredible footage of firefighters tackling a huge structure fire from a bucket with a master stream. What’s important to note is that the fire is in a plastics factory, and what you’ll see is one incredible backdraft. I don’t have more information about whether or not the firefighters are okay.

Awesome Pics from Latest Structure Fire in Town

So, the guys from my fire house along with other Neptune Township fire companies, which include Unexcelled Fire Company, Liberty Fire Company and Shark River Hills Fire company, along with fire companies from Ocean Grove Fire Department, Asbury Park Fire Department, Bradley Beach Fire Department and Fort Monmouth Fire Department were at this intense structure fire at a two story home.

The house was old school, so lots of old harden woods, balloon construction. It took about 4 hours to kill. At the end of which there was approximately 4 feet of water in the basement from all the drowning and pounding the fire took.

One of the guys in my fire department is a photographer and he goes into the fires with is camera strapped around his neck. Crazy if you ask me – but he gets some GREAT pictures that the average person doesn’t usually get to see. So see the pics for yourself:

Raw Video: Extrication from Burning Vehicle

From what I can gather, this happened in Vancouver. I don’t know if they did or did not successfully get the person out of the burning car.

Man Charged with Killing Firefighter has Day in Court

Back on August 29, a Hazlet, NJ volunteer firefighter’s body was found in his driveway. Kevin Martin, 45, was beaten to death in front of his own home. Arrested the next day was “Tyrone Price, 22, who’s last known address was a motel in a depressed part of Eatontown, NJ. Price as was actually arrested in PA and extradited back to NJ.

The judge confirmed that his bail will remain at $1 million as Prosecutor’s office investigates the murder.

Friends, I’ll put it this way. I love this country and that is why he’ll stay innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. But let me tell you something right now. If that rat bastard is guilty, they should fry his ass for his cowardly act. Heck, let him burn.

Backdraft Destroys Two Story Building

A little undermanned, I’d say. And I don’t think it’s a backdraft, but the video says so. But it’s still an impressive explosion, none the less.

Aspiring Firefighter Buried with Firefighter Honors

Here’s a great story coming out of Canada. It is proof positive that the heart of firefighters beams with a goodness that is unsurpassed. Brandon Hrycyk-Last, a 20-year old man with spina bifida, passed away this week. Brandon had been a huge fan of firefighters and started visiting the Walkerville Firestation when he was 11. His relationship with the firefighters grew from there and now, as he’s passed on, the firefighters honor him as one of his own.
Burying Brandon in a captain’s and a Windor fire helmet by his side, the firefighters will transport his casket in an engine and carry him to his final resting place.
Brandon’s mother says the firefighters meant the world to him. And it is in the generosity of the human spirit that firefighters exhibit that I can honestly say that I am proud to be one of this elite brotherhood.
